Swiss watch giant Omega opened its first store in Beijing Tuesday, one of the largest Omega stores in China.

The store, located in busy Wangfujing, covering 117 square meters, was a critical step for the company's strategy in China, said Kevin Rollenhagen, vice-president of Omega for Hong Kong and China.

Omega has two stores in China's economic center, Shanghai, and in Shenyang, in the northeastern Jilin Province, Ningbo, in the eastern Zhejiang Province, and Kunming, capital of the southwestern Yunnan Province.

China accounted for 10 percent of Omega's global sales, said Rollenhagen.
